Giada Barney-Sink is a 24-year old mezzo-soprano and native of Las Vegas. She is a mother to two wonderful children and wife to Matthew Sink, tenor. She is a second year Masters Student at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Music has always been a part of her life. She began studying piano at the age of 7 and then violin at age 11. She thoroughly enjoyed playing violin in high level orchestras and at the Smith Center in Las Vegas. It was not until she was 18 years old that she discovered her affinity and passion for singing and opera. From March 2019 to August 2020, she served a volunteer mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving the people of Madrid and southern Spain. In Spain, Giada had many opportunities to perform in concerts, including a Christmas concert with the Banda Municipal de Granada under the direction of Ángel López Carreño. Giada has performed in scene programs for UNLV as Elettra from Idomeneo, re di Creta, Jade Boucher from Dead Man Walking, and Kathie from The Student Prince. In December of 2021, Giada played Giselle in the filming of Linda Lister’s new one-act opera, Body of Art, which was premiered in 2022 (see full recording in performance section of website). In March 2022, she played Appolonia in the full UNLV Opera Production of La Canterina. In November 2022, she will play Grace Ansley in UNLV Opera's production of Roman Fever. Giada was accepted to the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices where she has worked with world-renowned mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick. Giada studied vocal performance at UNLV under Dr. Alfonse Anderson and currently studies with Karen Brunssen at Northwestern. She is grateful to God for the opportunities she has been given thus far and grateful to her husband, children, mother, aunts, and grandparents for always supporting her and encouraging her to pursue her dreams.
